How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6024199 / WPY503978 Heating Element

Based on available information on websites, and urgency of having the dryer fixed ASAP, I ordered all parts related to heat. First time working on a dryer. 

Watched some vids to find out what to check, tore down the dryer, tested components with a multimeter (easy!) and identified faulty heating element (thermostat/fuse ok). Pulled the element all the way out and saw that yes the element was broken/discontinuous. Ordered new one, installed, reassembled and back to proper operation (heat!). Hopefully this thing can keep going through the recession! 

Replaced the three most likely parts that cause the problem according to your website - the heating element, thermostat and fuse. 

I replaced the obviously broken heating element. The thermo fuse was cheap so I replaced it too. I reused my high limit thermostat, time will time off that was the correct decision. I would suggest taking a picture of the wiring for reconnection. 

My Maytag Dryer of 14+ years was turning on and tumbling clothes, but the heat did not turn on. I used the AppliancePartsPros.com website to troubleshoot the problem. The website narrowed down the possible issues. I discovered the heating coil was broken. I overnighted the Heating Element, Thermal Fuse, and Thermostat. Delivery was on time and our family's dryer was back operating well after replacing the parts. 

After figuring how to dismantle the puzzle box that is my 17 yr old Admiral dryer, I determined the issue was the belt that looked dressed in two places and the spring arm roller that was performing a miracle by keeping the belt in place for gods knows how long. Finding and ordering the parts on this site was a breeze. Also ordered an element for good measure. Shipping was slightly annoying because I received no notification two of the items shipped within the few days the site says they will, and when looking at my order on their website it didn’t show they shipped there either. A quick email straightened out the confusion and saw that the third item was put in the mail right away. Other than the lack of updating shipping information, I am satisfied with the products and the company. The parts fixed my issues and the old girl runs like new. I would recommend this company in the future. 

I looked up info video on Youtube and then the owners manual. I opened the dryer up and took a picture of the coil and replaced it. The total time to replace the coil is about 30 minutes. 

My brother ordered the part and drop-shipped it at my house. It was ordered on Apr.1st and arrived 2 days later on a Sunday, no less! My brother was down to my house the following day to replace the element. He had it done in 1.5 hours. It would have been sooner if he had not taken the time to vacuum out the lint that had accumulated inside the dryer and in the discharge venting. 

Replaced heating element. Works great now. 

New element and rollers. I put on a new belt while I was at it.
