How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6016628 / WPW10190965 Refrigerator Ice Maker Kit

Well there were only three screws that held it in and an electric plug to undo. I tore it apart and found that the ice maker's heater element had quit. I ordered the new icemaker installed it and we once again have ice. Really simple 

I got it out and the new icemaker works just fine. ty very much 

I noticed some solid ice blocks in my ice tray. I was able to catch the ice drop and the beginning of the harvest cycle. It was when the water was put into the ice maker, saw it leaking water out into the bin. This is my second repair that AppliancePartsPros.com YouTube videos helped me with. Obviously I purchased the new ice maker from APP. The entire job from unboxing, emptying the top shelf, and gathering the 2 tools you need, removal and the install….. 12 minutes!!! It was super easy. The instructional video was step by step. Anyone with minor handiness can do this job.

Easily removed the old ice maker and replaced it with the new part. The wiring harness had to be removed from the new part and replaced with the old one.

Search engine turned up a APP part that was not listed as compatible, but the part looked exactly the same in the video. Customer service got back to me and said it would work, so I ordered just the ice maker at about half the cost of the full kit, which the only way manufacturer sells it (AP sells the kit too, cheaper). Part arrived within a couple of days, and I installed it within an hour. Should have been faster, but original installer drilled holes instead of using the factory screws and holes. I decided to use the factory ones and had trouble with the closest screw because I couldn't really see it. Eventually got all screws in. Works great now. 

Replaced the part but we have to wait 24 hrs before it starts making ice.

We have a Whirlpool Model #ET1FTEXSQ00 which had an ice maker installed after it was purchased. Well the ice maker failed and the we received excellent advice from AppliancePartsPros.com on the correct part to replace the retrofitted ice-maker. A major salute to the expertise of AppliancePartsPros.com. The new ice-maker completed three cycles of making ice . . . and then the our solenoid valve failed. .So - we have not researched a the replacement solenoid valve - but we know who to call.
