How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6037202 / W10918546 Gas Range Oven Igniter

I bought a new ignitor from APP and pulled the oven out to where I could get to it. The back access panel came off with a few phillips head screws, where I unsnapped the wiring connector. Back around at the front, the oven floor came off without tools. One sheet metal screw held the flame spreader in. From there, the ignitor was visible, and required a 5/16 nut driver to remove the ignitor from the gas tube. Reassembly was in reverse order. The old ignitor had obvious signs of damage, and the oven works flawlessly now. Dead simple. 

I looked up different places and putting my model number and part number in made it so simple and my stove in old 

Ordered the oven igniter, received it in just one day and replaced it within minutes using the how to video that is provided by appliancepartspros.com. 

Replace the igniter 

I remove the old part and replaced it with the new one. Two screws and it was done. 

Ordered a new one and replaced it 

Ordered new part by providing model number igniter was first on list price was very good manufacture part. Ordered part and in 24 hrs the part was delivered ordered on Thursday received on Friday. 

Very easy repair. I unplugged the stove, removed protective cover from the spark module, and swapped out the old module with the new one. You can't screw this up. On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the most difficult, it was .5. It was harder sliding out the stove. 

New igniter 

I took a look at the oven and found that it used a hot surface ignitor, and it was glowing red-hot. The problem was the valve was not opening to allow gas to flow into the burner. That's where I did some research. I found that the ignitor also fed power to the valve, making it possible for either part to be the problem. Note that the valve was priced at $100. Digging further, I found a website that said the ignitor fixed the problem 89% of the time. So I bought the ignitor and paid just over $40 including shipping. I found that replacing the ignitor was a lot easier than I thought. It took a few minutes and the new part was in. After reconnecting the gas and electric, I turned the oven on. It worked. :)
