How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6037202 / W10918546 Gas Range Oven Igniter

Ordered a replacement and installed it. 

I wasn't sure if the oven igniter was the issue at first. I researched troubleshooting the oven and then came across AppliancePartsPros.com. I watched the easy DIY video about replacing the part and made the purchase. It arrived the next day, and I installed it within an hour. It was so simple and easy to replace. AppliancePartsPros saved me $800. I'm grateful for their assistance. 

Turned the oven on and sparks were shooting out the back, it stopped before I could find the breaker. Upon inspection it was the wires to the igniter that somehow shorted and then burned through. Ordered and new ignitor and a door gasket since mine was so worn. Replacement of both was simple enough! 

Clear instructional video made swapping out the dud igniter an easy fix. Oven now lights and stays hot as expected.

Went on web sight! Listed my problem! Site guided me to the exact part problem! Video explained how igniter should glow and how to repair! Ordered part! Installed! Problem fixed!! 

I replaced the part with a new one 

Removed the existing ignitor module and replaced it - works fine now! Straight forward process - remove the rear access panel to get to module wiring connector, then remove and replace from inside the oven (have to remove the bottom panel but it just lifts up). But do be careful of sharp edges on the sheet metal pieces - apparently, they no longer believe in getting rid of sharp edges on the stamped metal parts of their ranges. Good idea to wear gloves. 

Removed cover on back to disconnect. Removed interior oven bottom to access part. Super easy replacement. Great video from appliance parts pros. I'm a huge fan and repeat customer. Thanks.
