How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005883 / WP216201 Injector Valve

Installed new part. 

Between AppliancePartsPros.com and YouTube we were able to fix our 30 year old Maytag washer. Having never worked on a washing machine before I was surprised we could do it ourselves and very surprised we could find the part we needed for such an old machine. 

Replaced the injector valve. Also added the new nozzle since it was not accessible. It was easy and straightforward. 

Replaced injector valve and nozzle, sleeve seemed to be okay. 

I had replace the injector hose kit a little over a year ago because the original failed it was 22 years old. I used just the injector valve. This fixed the problem. I got the injector hose kit as a backup.

I watched video of the repair I needed. It was a simple process. No special tools needed. 

Replaced the rubber sleeve which the parts list called "Injector Valve." Amazing that this thin rubber-like part lasted 38 years of steady use before it broke! Cannot really understand why such thin "rubber" was used for this part, but suspect the fitting is part of anti-syphon protection. This is only second part we have had to replace on the Maytag A806 washer. It is a sad commentary on what the global consumer market has done that the quality and durability of this machine is unavailable today at any price. Gee thanks Consumers Reports for driving the constant "buy new" syndrome. In any case, the part from AppliancePartsPros.com came quickly and was exactly what we needed.
