How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012427 / WP8283288 Door Switch

Went online at AppliancePartsPros.com and located the part through the provided schematics and watched a video on the replacement. After watching the video, I was confident that I could effect the repair. I ordered the part and followed the video to complete the repair. The video clearly laid out a step-by-step procedure that allowed me to do the repair saving lots of money over having a repairman come to the house and do the repair. Rocky 

After replacing thermal fuse and thermistor, door switch was the last culprit. Up and running again. Must replace belt, drum cushion and heater element next service period. Dryer is 12 years old. Still works perfectly. $150 investment beats a new dryer. Some AppliancePartsPro - T L C and I will get another 4 to 6 more years out of it.

Ordered assembly but discovered one wire was not making contact fixed connector on door switch 

Mainly based on the other experiences on this site, I determined the door switch was faulty. Ordered and received a replacement very easily and quickly. Followed the awesome instructional video and even though it involved more disassembly than I had expected to just replace a door switch, the entire procedure itself was not difficult (and I am far from a handyman). Saved me a ton of money, that's for sure! Very impressed with the professionalism of this company. 

My seventeen year old son and I watched the video, took the dryer apart, and replaced the door switch. The repair took about an hour (if we had to do it again it would take much less time). We were amazed with how quickly the replacement switch arrived at our house. We ordered it online on Thursday evening, and it arrived via Fed-Ex on Saturday afternoon (shipping was about six bucks). Fixed it myself. Diagnosed the problem with internet searches. Watched a lot of AppliancePartsPros videos - VERY helpful. 

I ordered the door latch from here after I realized it was the issue with my dryer not working. I followed the video of how to install it that I received with my electronic receipt and had my dryer working again within 20 mins. Thanks so much for all of the great resources. 

Order the door switch and watched the DIY video on the website. The part is pretty deep in the dryer but the website gave good instructions on how to change it out. The part also came one day earlier then was originally scheduled. I will definitely use appliancepartspros again.
