How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6020997 / WPW10404412 Door Latch Assembly

Looked up similar issues on the website & decided to replace the latch assembly. Works fine now. 

I replaced the door latch assembly. Very easy to do, just watch the video. AppliancePartaPros.com was great to work with when I ordered my part. I chose the standard delivery and it was at my doorstep the next day. My dishwasher now works perfectly again. 

Connected blown wire pcs. Used the internet to find possible solutions for no start. Tried cheapest parts first. (The circuit for soap dispenser moved to fuse below circuit board and finally circuit board. Glad you have the original parts @ best price and super fast shipping :) 

I purchased both the door switch and control unit. I installed the door switch, a very easy job and it fixed the dishwasher. I didn't need the control unit so I'm returning it for a refund. 

My dishwasher door quit closing. After a quick visual inspection, it seemed clear that the latch locking mechanism had given out (maybe a spring issue / not really sure but it seemed like when depressed it wouldn’t bounce back to create the latch). I had taped it up and was going to drive 45 minutes to pick up a part locally as online orders do make me nervous. However, life kept preventing me from actually doing that so my dishwasher stayed taped up & out of use. Finally, I bought online and am happy I did. After finding the part number (quick google search using the model number) for the door latch I needed I ordered it from AppliancePartsPros.com. It was appropriately priced and arrived one day earlier than anticipated (standard delivery is what I picked). I used YouTube videos to learn how to get in and do the replacement. The door now closes perfectly and I am able to keep using the dishwasher and all for under 80$!

We replaced the Door Latch and the Handle I wish they would make these parts out of something other than plastic! 

Installed part and dishwasher is running fine. 

Replaced the control panel because there were broken tabs on the original piece, and also replaced the door latch assembly, just in case. Dishwasher works now... we are very pleased. 

Ordered new door latch and control board. Great video on repairs. Wife is happy no more doing dishes by hand.
