Even though, on door spring had broken, I ordered two springs and retainers from Appliance Parts. All arrived in a timely manner. It's important to determine the make and model to insure receiving the correct parts. Replacing the springs is pretty straight forward and easy when armed with only a few screw driver and an adjustable wrench. First remove the dishwasher kick plate to expose the adjustment pads. Inside the sink cabinet, you'll need to turn off the water supply, disconnect the supply hose and disconnect the drain hose at, in my case, the disposal. Shut off power too. Open the dishwasher door and remove two typical wood screws near the top edge. On the base on each side should be an adjustment pad or leg. These need to be unscrewed to a point that facilitates the dishwasher to be pulled out of it's cavity. Be mindful the power cord, water supply and drain hose will need to be guided out as you pull the washer forward. One needs to only pull the dishwasher out enough to expose the spring springs and their retainers. make a note which "slot" the retainer is positioned as it determines the level of assistance the door benefits. reversal is a simple process. Having a good light source available is helpful to inspect the area and remove accumulated dust bunnies. You know your significant other will insist LOL. I rate this job a "3" out of 5. It only took 23 years for this spring to break. LOL.
