How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007247 / WP2315539 Evaporator Motor

I fixed it by replacing the evaporator motor even though the motor was still working and the fan was still spinning when I opened the back of the freezer. The motor must have some additional control and time mechanisms that probably shorted out. But, having read that replacing the motor fixes it 45%+ of the time, I decided to replace the motor and it resolved the issue. 

Replaced the capacitor first. Wasn't the fix. Replaced the evap fan motor. All is up and running. 

Evaporator fan inoperable replaced the motor. 

I went through the Appliance Parts Pros video titled "Freezer is Cold & Refrigerator is Warm". The first thing I noticed was that the evaporator fan (behind the duct opening at the top rear of the freezer compartment) wasn't turning. It spun freely when I moved it by hand, and it still didn't start after the freezer compartment was warm and free of ice. This model has an all-in-one digital control board, so I couldn't do the defrost timer tests. I unplugged, tested continuity on the defrost thermal switch and the defrost heater coil using a multimeter. Both were fine. I unplugged the evaporator fan motor and tested continuity: it measured as an open circuit. To make sure that the controller was trying to run the fan, I left it unplugged and tested the voltage on the wires coming from the controller, with the multimeter set to measure Volts AC in the 200V range. The output was 120V AC. Clearly a working controller board and a dead fan motor. I purchased a factory replacement evaporator fan motor. I pulled the plastic fan blades off the old motor and pressed them onto the new one, installed it and everything now works as it used to. 

Thanks to Appliance Parts Pros, we got a new motor within several days. It was a really easy fix for my husband who is 78 years old. You saved us at least $1000 since we don't have to replace our refrigerator. Thanks so much.

I paid a repair guy $169 to diagnose my problem. He told me it was my evaporator motor. I wasn't too sure because after he left, I could see that it was still moving but I ordered a new one anyway. Took about an hour to replace and now it works perfectly. I saved about $240 from what the repair guy wanted to do the job, by doing it myself. The only difficult part was getting my 71-year-old body to flex enough, mainly to get the ice maker out and back in. 

Bought an Evaporator fan motor, as suggested by your troubleshooting chart, showing that it was the problem and indeed it was. I followed the directions on the video on how to install it, even though the fridge in the video wasn't quite like my fridge, it still gave me the general idea and was a lot easier to put in, than I expected. I had put my fridge in the shed for storage until I could find and afford an Appliance repairman to come work on it. No need for one, now, thanks to Appliance Parts Pros. I'm very happy to have my big fridge back in the house and working. Thanks, Appliance Parts Pros for your help!. 

After Googling my refrigerator model number, appliance parts pros came up with the exact problem that I was having. Freezer was cold, but not the refrigerator.
