The Evaporator Motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It plays a critical role in circulating air over the refrigerator's evaporator coils to cool the air inside the fridge and freezer compartments. This circulation helps maintain the desired temperature settings, ensuring that food is kept at optimal freshness.

Includes wire harness. If your fan motor does not have an incorporated wire harness, you will need part number- WPW10188389

Causes of a bad Evaporator Motor can include motor burnout due to continuous operation, electrical failures, or mechanical wear from prolonged use.

Symptoms of a bad Evaporator Motor include:

  • The refrigerator or freezer not cooling adequately
  • Unusual noises coming from the refrigerator indicating motor distress
  • The motor running hot or not running at all

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Tadd M for Model Number WRT311FZDW00

I've had this fridge for a little over 2 years. It's in my garage. The Freezer is working fine but the refrigerator has been slowly getting warmer the past few months. It is now very warm and obviously not cooling. The freezer is working great. What do you think I need to replace to fix it? Do you think the evaporator fan motor is not working? When I open the freezer the fan in the back is blowing fine. The freezer has some frost accumulating on the roof of the freezer and freezer door. And there is water dripping from the inside top of the fridgerator. Please advise which part I should order to fix my problem. Thanks. Tadd

Tadd M, The fan in the freezer is the evaporator fan, which sounds like it works normally. The refrigerator is designed to operate in a conditioned air space, not in a hot garage. The water on top of the refrigerator section and the frost accumulating in the freezer sounds like an air leak. Check the door gaskets for proper seal and move the unit to a conditioned air space.

Bill, You will want to pull the rear panel in the upper section and check to see if there is a frost pattern. If there is no frost pattern then this will be a sealed system issue and will require service.

Wiesel for Model Number 106.41163310

Our Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator is not chilling the fridge side. However the freezer side is staying at 0degF. I've checked for... 1. air passage blockages at top & bottom (none found) 2. diffuser/damper operation (open when fridge is operating, functioning properly during service mode #3) 3. evap fan is spinning (operating when fridge is on, functional during service mode #3) 4. ice build-up on evap (light frost but no ice) 5. compressor operation (functional during service mode #4) 6. condenser fan operation (functional during service mode #4) Note: Service Mode Tests 1 thru 7 all "Pass" when performing Service Diagnostics. Although the evap fan is spinning, I'm not feeling any airflow from the fridge-side upper vent. Not sure how to check RPM, but thinking it may not be spinning fast enough to push adequate cold air. Please let me know if this is a possibility and if the evap fan motor should be replaced. Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Wiesel, Thanks for the question!!! The most common issue in your scenario is a bad thermistor W10316760. This can be tested for resistance. Your tech sheet would have a list of resistances for measurements at a range of temperatures.

Tim, The control board W11443921 would be the most likely cause if there is a defrost issue going on with the unit. Also check to make sure that the evaporator fan motor is working which could also be the issue.

Hello Tim, access the freezer evaporator coil and check for a no defrost condition. Manually defrost it as needed, reassemble the section and check if it reoccurs in about a week, if so replace the adaptive defrost control [W11176898].

David, Thanks for the question!!! If just the shaft has pulled then the part is broken and will need to be replaced.

Hello Curt, this may be 2 different problems, the compressors and fan motors are on the same circuit, check if there is 120v to the fan motors when the compressor is running, if not then there is an internal wiring problem, if there is 120v to the fans then both fans have failed. As far as the ice build-up only on the top right of evap coil, yes that indicates a sealed systm problem, usually a leak.

Hello Bonnie, If the new fan motor is the same as the old one you can certainly use the old fan blade, (fan motor shaft has to be the same diameter so the fan blade cannot move on the new motor shaft).
