Takashi K Olean , NY November 22, 2019 One night suddenly the strange sound happened from the frig The frig seems to be made in 1997. The motor was almost stuck. The compressor and heat pipe were very hot with no heat exchange. Fortunately, the outside temperature (and the temperature in the kitchen) was low, so I decided to cool it naturally until it reached the motor. (1) Open the back panel. (2) Remove the motor power connector. (3) Loosen the three bolts and remove the motor. (4) Remove the plate nut attached to the motor shaft and attach the fan to the new motor in the same orientation. (5) Install the motor and tighten the bolts. (6) Turn on the frig and check that the motor works. Since the fan touched the frame a little and the sound was generated, adjust it so that no sound comes out. I think the fans were bent. (7) Close the back panel. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Adjustable Wrench, Nut Drivers

Alton H Coeur D'alene , ID June 05, 2019 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator SS27AQXHW00 The fridge fan bearing was getting noisy. I tried cleaning the fan blades first then when it didn't work, I ordered a new motor. Before the new motor arrived I watched a couple repair videos that where pretty accurate. When the motor arrived I noticed that the new motor screw holes are not threaded, so I used the motor mount screws to pre-tap the new motor before installing it back into the fridge motor mount. Due to the tight space, this allowed for simpler installation of the mount screws by not having to apply sideways pressure in a small space to get the screws to bite into the new motor. Total time was about 30 minutes. I had already vacuumed out the bottom and coils. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Socket Set
