How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6022694 / WPW10531320 Drain Pump

Replaced drain pump. 

Replaced drain pump. Dishwasher intermittently wouldn't drain. Would make humming sound three times and the shut off mid cycle. New pump installed relatively easy. There is a tab that must be lifted on the old pump which must be lifted before it can spin off. A small nail finally did the trick after various screw drivers proved to be too long. 

The dishwasher started to make a loud droning noise in the wash cycle and the dishes no longer became clean. Replaced the motor pump and its now quite and actually cleans the dishes! Total repair took about 45 minutes. Also replaced the drain pump while it was accessible. Tools needed was a Philips screwdriver, a T15 driver and hose clamp crimper plyers. 

New pump motor assembly. 

Removed Drain Hose. Filled with sludge, and rinsed it out. Replaced Drain Pump. Which failed too. It's been 3 years since I've paid for any service contract. AppliancePartsPros.com changed everything for me. 

Got a new pump, YouTube videos showed how easy it was to change, and fixed the pump change with approx. 1 hour of total work time once I got the new drain pump. Was surprised how easy it was to twist off. However, twisting it on again needed some finesse, so if you do this yourself, this is the only smaller tricky thing to be aware of. 

Replaced part 

Cleaned out the line, but still replaced the Turbidity Sensor and Drain Pump we purchased. Worked great 

I called an Appliance repairman. After getting his price of $556.00 I decided to do it myself. APP's website was helpful, I located the new pump for less than $80.00 it was promptly shipped and I installed it myself. Quite a savings. 

Removed power, disconnected the inlet water hose, and drain hose, and pulled the unit out. I laid it on its side and replaced the drain pump. The only problem was receiving the parts from FedEX, The part did not arrive on time.
