The repair was relatively simple and went smoothly. The replacement motor fit physically, without issue. Whirlpool made a change to the wiring since my compactor was built and required a change of all but one of the wire end connectors from 1/4" to 1/8" connectors. the instructions clearly showed which connectors needed to be altered and the new connection locations. Just beware that you may need a wire cutter, stripper and crimper if your compactor comes with 1/4" connectors. You will need a small hammer and drift pin punch to remove and re-install the drive gear, nut drivers and / or wrenches and sockets to partially disassemble the chassis and possibly other tools to remove the compactor from under the counter top.
