How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5272116 / W10410996 Drive Motor

I went to the Appliance Parts Pros web site and watched the video on replacing the motor, once the motor arrived (ordered from Appliance Parts Pros) I removed the old motor and replaced in in about 30 minutes with the new motor. The job was simple and the video was very clear detailing the replacement process. 

After troubleshooting the problem, with the help of Appliance Parts Pro, it was evident the motor was burned out. Not being able to afford a new dryer, a DIY repair was the only option. While I considered purchasing a used machine, I realized that would only be buying a whole new set of potential problems. After watching an instructional video or two, I found the replacement part here on appliancepartspro.com, and it arrived within a couple days. With minimal tools, and virtually no experience with DIY appliance repair, I had the new motor installed within 40 minutes. I literally saved hundreds of dollars by repairing the machine on my own. After researching a new dryer, and finding out how expensive and lower-quality they have become, I elected to rebuild our fifteen-year-old high-end Maytag dryer. I replaced the motor, the idler assembly, the wheel bearings, and glides. The total cost was about $300 and it took about 2 hours total. It's running like a top now and is essentially rebuilt. This was a much better outcome than purchasing a new dryer and trashing the old one. I would rate my skillset as high, but I don't see why anyone couldn't research how to do this and accomplish it on their own. The AppliancePartsPros videos, YouTube, and other sources total research time about 20 or 30 minutes. I highly recommend you consider doing this if your dryer motor fails.

Scanned the typical list of problems for my unit (Maytag PYG2300AWW) on AppliancePartsPros.com. Watched a video on how to open up and inspect the dryer's parts. I noticed that one of the rear rollers did not spin as easily, but it did not explain the squeaking. Also found that the pulley wheel seemed fine. That took me to the drive motor. I tried turning the shaft of the motor, and it could barely be nudged. After using a meter to check that the timer/start device was still functioning, I decided the drive motor was the main culprit. I ordered a new drive motor and also ordered the rear roller replacement kit (may as well fix that while everything is opened up). The parts arrived on the exact day estimated. I watched a video on AppliancePartsPros.com on how to replace the drive motor, and another video on how to replace the rollers. Had to buy a new tool to properly handle some snap rings, but that was affordable. Repair went smoothly and the dryer is working like a charm. 

Once again, AppliancePartsPros to the rescue. Replaced the motor and blower wheel in our 15 year old dryer. I suggest replacing the blower wheel as well (if original), as you have to remove it to replace the motor. For only about 35.00, I thought it was worth doing now, rather then later on. Same with dyer belt, but ours was recently replaced. My buddy Matt helped me along in the video, and in no time dryer was up and running. Can't believe the difference. Purrs like a kitten and starts every time now.

The motor on our dryer went out so i was at the point of buying a new dryer or repair the one i had. well after shopping for a new dryer and seeing that they cost between $700 and $1100 i decided i needed to fix my old one. i have never done anything like this before { working on appliances } but i watched the how to fix it video 2 times that appliance parts pro had and i felt like i can do that. so i order the motor and when it arrived i was ready for the job. i'm here to tell you that was so easy to fix. i changed the motor and was finished with the entire job in 50 minutes and that even included me vacuuming the lent out of the entire dryer. after i was finished i washed a load of clothes and then for the test on the dryer. it went perfect, the dryer worked and dryed our clothes just like it was brand new. if it would have not been for the how to video i would have had to take it to the appliance shop, and they said it would be $350 to fix it or i would have had to buy a new dryer. i really like the how to video and that is why i purchased the motor because yall showed me how easy it was and that i can do it just as easy as the appliance shop can and i saved about $200 doing it my self. pretty good savings for less than one hours work. thank you very much. calvin 

Replaced motor. Use the Youtube video provided on the website. It took about 30 minutes and all is fine now. 

Diagnosed it by using appliance parts pros online help. Ordered part on Monday, arrived on Tuesday. Second time ordering from appliancepartspros.com and couldn't be happier with the service.
