How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5650272 / W10537869 Diverter Motor

Replaced the sump and new diverter motor. 

After looking online for threads regarding the problem, I felt certain the problem was in the sump and/or diverter motor. I watched the "How to Videos" offered by Appliance PartsPros.com, ordered a sump, diverter motor and pump seal and successfully installed all three. After reattaching the water and drain lines and hooking the electricity back up my wife ran a rinse cycle without any leaks. This was followed by a complete wash cycle loaded with dishes and still no leaks. The problem was fixed. 

Apparently the "official" way to make this repair is to replace the sump. I was able to do this in about 2 hours using the video on APP. I also replaced the diverter motor itself which in hindsight was probably unnecessary. There are supposedly a couple other ways to fix the leaking diverter seal including removing the seal and flipping it upside down (some were installed incorrectly from the factory) or just buying the seal and not the sump (sounds like about half the time this doesn't work). I just wanted it fixed so I replaced the whole sump. My one critique of the APP video is when reinstalling the discharge motor they show it flipped 180 degrees compared to my model. When I first reinstalled it and ran it the discharge motor was leaking. Then looked at pictures I took during disassembly realized it and flipped it and no issues. Parts came within 2 days in excellent packaging. 

Ordered the diverter motor from AppliancePartsPros.com and it came within a couple of days. I watched the repair video on their website and my dishwasher was fixed within 10 minutes.

After washing dishes, the bottom rack dishes were staying dry on the inside, no water was getting inside. After washing, turn a cup or bowl over and the inside was dry. I took a picture of the bottom sprayer to record its position, then ran the dishwasher for a couple minutes then looking at my picture I compared the sprayers positions to see if it had turned, then I concluded the sprayer was not moving. The washer pump was working, it was pushing water throughout the system except for the bottom sprayer, it had no water. To fix it I purchased a new diverter motor and installed it myself after watching a YouTube. The new diverter motor fixed my dishwasher. 

Replaced the diverter motor. I watched the video on the web site, it was very helpful. 

Needed to replace the entire sump since the model has the seal as part of the sump instead of being able to replace just the seal. Nothing to difficult, just took pictures of everything before disassembling. Just have some towels handy and dish soap for lube. 

Change sump and sump O-ring to the motor.
