How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008540 / WP3404233 Start Switch

It was easy. Just follow the appliance parts pros tutorial. Very easy to follow the instructions. 

When my dryer didn't start I went on YouTube to try to troubleshoot the problem. Finding the problem, I ordered a new start button from appliance parts, replaced the part and attempted to turn on the dryer but it still didn't work! I was getting frustrated thinking I needed a new dryer but my mom suggested I reset the breaker switch, so I did that, and it worked! Yea! Not bad for a damsel in distress! ;) 

I LOOKED UP FOR THE CAUSES WHY THE DRYER WOULD NOT TURN ON. IT WAS 3 POSSIBLE PROBLEMS: THE ON/OFF SWITCH. THE DOOR SWITCH AND THE OVERHEAT FUSE. ALL 3 ONLY COST ABOUT $60 DOLLARS. I ORDERED ALL 3 AND INSTALLED THEM MYSELF. PRESTO. DRYER IS WORKING PERFECTLY. 

Ordered new timer switch assembly and start push switch and installed. After unplugging dryer, I loosened the duct hose and moved dryer out far enough to allow access to rear top panel cover plate. Several sheet metal screws later, the switches were exposed, allowing for removal and then wire switchover to new switches and reinstallation. The videos offered on Appliance Parts Pros are very short and helpful for anyone needing assistance in a project. 

I received my part the very next day with regular shipping. Watched the video on APP.com website and was done 15 min. later. Wife is very happy, thanks APP staff !! 

Searched for my washer on the world wide web found MANY sites but AppliancePartsPros was the BEST. I found my part.I viewed the video. I ordered my part and it was delivered as promised. All I used was a set of sockets and if your short you might need a step stool.My washer dryer combo are stacked on top of each other. TIP you might want to take a photo of the wires before you unhook the wires from the old part.
