How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3104565 / 4342528 Oven Bake And Broil Igniter

Second time in 4 years that this issue has occurred. Researched ad nauseum and found multiple threads on the appliance repair blog about what the problem could be. Well, without troubleshooting - my symptoms fit - and I bit the bullet and bought the part anyway. Good thing, it was exactly what went wrong. I'm a little annoyed that I was able to find my receipt dated in May 2019 for the SAME PART though. 

I ordered an igniter which I was pretty sure was the problem. The fix was easy and the video that was attached to the shipping Email was very helpful! 

I ordered a new oven ignitor and installed it and works like new. 

One wire on igniter measured low resistance to ground with oven power disconnected meaning gas safety valve probably OK. Turned oven on & carefully measured 120 volts to ground from other wire on igniter meaning circuit board & controls OK. Disconnected igniter had infinite resistance condemning it. Replaced igniter & everything works. Telephone conversation with Appliance Parts Pros gave me several pointers & greatly increased confidence. The new part arrived in several days, the price was good. Very satisfied & would order again. Thank you. 

I ordered the replacement lid switch from AppliancePartsPros.com, followed a tutorial video on YouTube, and replaced the bad switch. 

Replaced same. 

Order replacement. Turned power off and replaced the gas oven igniter and now my oven is working. 

Had to take the oven all the way out to be able to unplug the non-working igniter. The part I bought from AppliancePartsPros was exactly as pictured, which meant it had the right plug on the end, which meant not having to cut the wires and use wire nuts. 

Easy fix, took off old one and replaced it. 

It was easy to replace/install the new part.
