Second time in 4 years that this issue has occurred. Researched ad nauseum and found multiple threads on the appliance repair blog about what the problem could be.
Well, without troubleshooting - my symptoms fit - and I bit the bullet and bought the part anyway.
Good thing, it was exactly what went wrong. I'm a little annoyed that I was able to find my receipt dated in May 2019 for the SAME PART though.
