How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009605 / WP500121 Dryer Glide Felt Pad

Googled what can make a dryer squeak and saw what parts to replace. Watched Appliance Parts Pro video on how to replace those parts. Purchased parts from Appliance Parts Pro. Received the correct parts in a timely manner and replaced them. No Squeaking! 

Replaced belt, tension pulley, rear rollers, glide pads and felt pads. Nothing was particularly difficult with the repair or installation of the parts. There is not much space to install the new tension pulley, because the nut is underneath the motor and hard to see/reach. I solved this by putting the nut in a box end wrench and putting a small piece of duct tape over it so it wouldn't fall out while the bolt was starting to thread into the nut. Others had mentioned having to remove the motor to get the pulley on, but this is a free and easy fix. Everything else was very straightforward. You will also need some snap ring pliers with very small posts to grab the clips on the rollers. 

I'm not a Do It Yourself by any means but with a repair man charging $100 just to diagnose the problem I figured I would give it a try! I ordered almost every part that could affect the drum not turning for $72 that included expedited shipping! With the helpful videos I completed the repair in under two hours. The videos are extremely helpful with step by step instructions and none of it is confusing. If I can I do this any one can! 

Replaced the bracket on one side of the drum and replaced both glides and felt.Worked perfectly 

Have many years of "do-it-yourself" repairs. This one is certainly within my capabilities, but watched the repair videos provided and found those to be good content. When replacing the front felt seal, I will add this. If you are comfortable working with solvents, a rag damped (not soaking) with acetone will help to completely remove the old high temp adhesive. This can affect the finish, so proceed with caution. I prefer to have a completely clean smooth surface when ever possible for adhesives. Overall, this was a very good experience. I went to appliance pro on line and keyed in the model # and the tech on a video showed me how to take it apart and fix it. I ordered the parts and had the parts within a few days.I mean we were seriously thinking of buying a new dryer for 400 bucks. But with appliance pros video and step by step instructions.......40 dollars and the dryer runs like new......might even get 9 more years out of it. Appliance pros is the way to go..........no home repair guy ...no big bill......just a screwdriver and a small socket set 

Replaced belt tension assembly,glides, felt pads, support rollers and belt. dryer is 10 years old so i might as well replace it all while i had it apart. 

Replaced the suggested parts; rollers,guides, etc. plus changed the belt while apart. 

Thought it was probably the rear rollers for the drum, but turned out to be the idler pulley for the belt. Also found drum support glide pads for front of drum were worn out. Ordered parts and with help from video on APP had it fixed in about an hour. thank you APP for showing repair videos 

Purchased belt, figured it was getting loose and stretched out, never been changed and dryer is ???? years old. Upon disassembly to replace belt, I inspected all pulleys, rollers, guides etc. Found the belt tensioner pulley was difficult to spin and had a groove worn in it from the belt. Also found the front drum guides were fairly well worn and the felt pads were missing. Placed a second order for the pads, guides, and tensioner. Replaced all parts, installed new belt, and reassembled.
