How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009605 / WP500121 Dryer Glide Felt Pad

Replaced dryer drum glides and felt pads 

The trick to any appliance repair is finding the proper way to open the outer frame. This was not an issue with the repair video. It shows you how to get into the dryer as well as how to make the repair. The whole process was very easy with this knowledge. The dryer is now running very quietly again and best of all, the wife is happy! 

Watched your video then pulled it apart and replaced all worn parts 

Replaced belt, drum glides, and felt pads. This fixed the problem and dryer just like new. 

The belt, front glides, and tension pulley were in bad shape and needed to be replaced. Though they were in good shape, I also replaced the rear support rollers while I had the dryer open. I took my time and used an air compressor to blow out dust and debris and vac'ed it all up. When I was done everything was as clean as I could make it. It now works like new and is quiet as can be. 

My granddaughter is 24 yrs. she wanted to learn how to fox things. I have been buying parts from Appliance parts for 50 + years. I am 75+ .Can't get down any more. Had her watch repair video & she said no problem with tear down or assembly. We got the tools out & within 1.5 hrs. she had it up + running. I helped hold the front panel + drum on assy. She used snap ring tool, screw driver, putty knife, small socket set 20+ yrs old still runs good. Appliance parts is the way to go. 

Because the glides and the felt had failed, the drum was scraping on the glide brackets and wearing a groove in them. They would have worn through completely had I not completed the repair. I replaced both of the glide brackets, felt pads, and drum glides. The parts arrived quickly and were the correct parts. The videos online showed exactly what I needed to do. I took my time and took pictures of the wiring that I had to unplug and then replug as I reassembled everything. I'm not 'Mr. Appliance Repair Guy', but it wasn't difficult and I felt like I had enough instruction through the videos to complete the repair and not harm myself or the dryer.

I've replaced the back rollers and bearings already so I know my way around the dryer. With it taken apart cleaned the surface and glued the felt to the dryer installed the new bracket and glides and put it back together with help of my son. 

Ordered replacement dryer belt, tension pulley assembly, support rollers, and drum glide. Total time to complete repair was ~1 hour (including giving the internal components a good vacuuming). Couldn't have been any easier thanks to the easy to navigate, intuitive Appliance Parts Pros part selection database. For around 50 bucks, I have a machine that operates like factory new!! Why waste $$$ buying a new machine when all you need to do is replace the common wear items. You can't possibly mess up this job, all you need are basic hand tools, go for it....Jim
