How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5962285 / W10782773 Pump And Motor Assembly

Order the new pump module and installed it. A trick not covered in the video is to use some dish sope around the module and other things that have o-rings to help them slide into place. 

I had called two repair companies when my dishwasher has started to screech during the wash. One never responded; the other was too busy to come. But he did look into it with the photos I sent him and he told me the parts were unavailable at his distributer. Parts were no longer made for my 13 year old machine. I had resigned myself to buying a new machine once I'd determined what model I wanted. I was browsing for ideas to resolve issues with my ice maker when it occurred to me to look for a part for my dishwasher. And there it was! I ordered this pump & motor and it arrived in less than 24 hours. After watching the repair video for courage I took the challenge. About 90 minutes later I had a working dishwasher again! The only thing different than the video is that my machine had an extra attachment with electrical connections before the drain hose. This was held on with a single torx screw and it (the attachment) had to be removed before the old pump & motor could be pulled out into the machine - it was too large otherwise. 

Watched the repair video (very helpful) and replaced the pump and motor assembly. A bit difficult to get the motor gasket to sit in the opening before reinstalling the 3 clips underneath. Almost need two people. Otherwise, a pretty easy job. 

Bought a new sump and replaced it. New sump fits, but it is a lot harder to fit in than what it shows in the video. You have to push really hard to get the rubber gasket to seat correctly so you can get the holding brackets in. 

I took off the front lower cover and heard the noise coming from the motor. I then searched the web and found AppliancePartsPros. Sears did not offer a motor any longer for my Kenmore. I watched the video and followed the instructions to replace the whole Pump and Motor since the complete assembly was cheaper than just the motor. I am handy and installed the dishwasher myself several years ago. The hardest part was disconnecting and reconnecting the electric and water lines which is similar to what needs to be done when buying a new washer. The whole process took about 2 hours. 

Ordered new pump and motor unit. Removed old unit per instructions, very easy. Installed new unit, works perfectly. 

After checking the dishwasher for obstructions, pieces of glass and other particles possibly lodged in the washer, turned out a bad bearing was the cause of the noise. I did an online search for repairs and came across several companies that offered replacement parts. However, Appliance Parts Pros was the only company that had the part in stock as well as the best price. The pump and motor assembly arrived in two days as promised. Nevertheless, I couldn't have completed the repair without the assistance of the online video they provided. Step by step guidance made the repair easy. Saved me time and money. Thanks 

I replaced the motor and pump assembly as a single unit. I did this because we plan on keeping this dishwasher as long as we can. We really like it. I also decided to replace drain pump and motor and water valve while I had dishwasher out even though they were working fine for a 10 year old machine. It took me a little over 2 hours with most of that time used removing dishwasher from under the cabinet. Repair was really easy paying attention to making sure all o-rings are properly lubribricated for easy installation and no leaks. Dishwasher is operating better than new now and is super quiet. Hopefully it will last us another 10 years. Saved a ton of money by doing repair myself. THANKS!!! 

Replaced pump and motor assembly. 

I was getting a loud grinding noise and a poor wash. The unit would fill and drain well and on inspection, the screens and chopper assembled looked fine and I couldn’t find any obstructions. This led me to the main motor is bad. I didn’t want to mess around in case I missed something and the cost of the motor vs. the pump and motor assembly wasn’t much so I decided to just replace the whole pump and motor assembly. I ordered the unit and received it the next day. The install took a couple of hours and watching the video fist left no surprises.
