How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5650269 / W10536347 Drain Pump

I made sure machine would still spin. Then checked hoses and pump for blockage. Pump impeller was broken at the shaft. Ordered pump and replaced. The kit has something that called itself a shield and the label said it had to be installed or we would die. Since I had no instructions on how to install it and it had been deformed in the package by being rubber banded around the pump, and I had lived through having this machine since 2008, I figured I'd be safe enough throwing it away. Pump went on nicely, the new inlet hose was appreciated. One more new clamp would have been nice, Anyway, it works like a new one, now. Best price, rocket delivery, very satisfied. 

I knew nothing about dishwashers and am a new homeowner. Quick google search suggested the a problem with the drain pump or blockage in the drain hose. I bailed out the remaining water (about I4 inches in tub), unplugged power and water connections, and turned tub in its front. I didn't realize there was quite a bit of water still left in the tub that I couldn't see. made a bit of a water mess but 5 towels later it was fine. I located drain pump is on bottom of tub and removed it. I got into the actual pump to see if the propeller could freely spin. It was clearly blocked, so I ordered a new pump from AppliancePartsPros.com (make sure you get the right one--there are many different kinds). AppliancePartsPros were AMAZING. my standard delivery got to me in less than 2 days and with my email confirmation they sent me a very easy to follow video of their own guy replacing the same exact drain pump I ordered. The fix took me about 15 minutes and I was up and running. HUGE brownie points from the wife, as we have two very young kids that go through clothes very fast. 

The replacement went real well -20 minutes. 

I found your website and purchased the part I needed in the meantime I seen that the website offered a video so I watched the whole thing which was a great help! The part came very quickly,had everything I needed and followed the video step by step on my IPAD and installed it myself saving about $200. Would recommend your website and videos to my friends who needed to repair an appliance. 

I ordered a pump from Appliance Parts Pros which was $40 cheaper than I could get it locally and got it in 2 days. Thanks to the repair video the fix was easy and took about 40 minutes. 

I was very easy to remove the drain pump and install the new one. It only took about 15 minutes. My only concern is that I could see quite a few coins in the bottom in some sort of plastic housing but I could not see anywhere to remove this and clean it out. I am wondering if that had something to do with the drain pump going bad because I found 2 dimes inside the drain pump. If any one has any tips on how to remove the plastic housing and clean it out, it would be much appreciated Thanks!!! 

Bought a new drain pump. 

Ordered the part, watched the video and the replacement of the drain pump was a piece of cake. 

Replaced drain pump. Very easy repair. Watched repair video first. It took about 20 minutes to complete. Washer works like new again. 

Replaced part, very simple procedure. Found video on YouTube that clearly explained steps.
