How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023956 / WPW10730972 Water Pump

I found the code and saw the " how to do it " video. I ordered the part and did it by myself. 

I ordered the Water Pump and replaced it. 

First I watched the repair video to see if wanted to tackle the job. The video was very thorough including the description of the exterior changes to the pump. The order was processed quickly even though it was a weekend. Prompt delivery. I followed the directions and the only issue I had was reinstalling the hose lamps. These are not my favorite type of clamps, but I got them on after unsuccessful attempts. I noticed the video had been edited to delete the struggle with the clamps. Otherwise, the video was great. 

I ordered a replacement pump assembly (which includes the filter) for my Whirlpool washing machine. The part arrived in a few days, installation was easy & required minimal/common tools. The worst part was lying on the floor to replace the pump/filter assembly since it's mounted on the bottom of the washer. My clothes washer is working fine & is quieter than before. 

Stubborn cheap female, I don't want to pay hundreds for someone else to do what I can for the cost of parts. It looked simple enough for me to do myself. I googled the error, drained water, and found no clogs. Googled other causes, watched a video on how to replace the drain pump, and decided to replace it myself. Found the cheapest drain pump at AppliancPartsPros.com and ordered it. It arrived a few days later. Watched the drain pump replacement video again and had my washer running in about an hour. I had to run out to buy new clamps, so I would suggest having those already before starting the job. 

The most difficult part of fixing a washing machine is figuring out what parts need to be replaced. With a 10-year-old front-loading washer, a 48-inch drive belt will stretch to about 49 inches in circumference and the pump will likely not be working as well as a new one. I replaced my drive belt first and a month later had to replace my pump. Both repairs were relatively easy to make. I now have a "new" washing machine. Always buy your parts from a reputable source, like APP. Cheap Chinese knock-offs will not last very long. 

Ordered and put in a new water pump. 

Checked the washer model # to find out the part number. Reviewed the video on your web page and knew exactly what to do. Ordering the part was easy. I did a quick look at the issue with it not draining. I looked to make sure the filter was not plugged up. I checked the drain line from tub to pump and pump to the standpipe to make sure they were not plugged. I ordered the pump and it arrived 3 days later. I watch the video site had on changing it out and had it done in 45 minutes. it would have been quicker if I would have not had to run back to the store twice for the 2 hose clamps. Otherwise, it would have been done in 15 minutes. 

Removed front plate, opened the top, removed the dispenser unit - replaced the parts, and then reversed the steps.
