How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6023702 / WPW10671238 Center Crisper Rail

Replaced it, but first we glued the part and that lasted okay. 

After studying the refrigerators parts diagram, I ordered the correct part from your company, watched your company’s video on proper installation (2 times) — and SUCESS! I installed the rail myself and didn’t need to bother my husband with the task. 

The shelf and crisper drawers would stay in. Ordered the parts, installed, now it works 

Bought a new center rail from you! It arrived amazingly quickly. Installation required no tools. The rail attaches to the back of the fridge with a notch, and then the crisper drawers hold it up on either side when they are slotted in. 

Ordered the new rail online. 

I ordered frame, center bar, and 2 humidity control slides. To my surprise all 3 parts arrived the next day! I reused the old front metal channel reinforcing brace (AP6005436) and the trim pan (AP6017393) - new ones are quite pricey. Getting the brace out of the old frame and into the new one was the hardest part of the job since it requires considerable force and the plastic frame is obviously breakable. The video for this job is very helpful and I recommend it. Before installing the brace in the new frame, I washed it thoroughly since over the years it had gotten dirty (and sticky) from fridge spills. The final problem was unexpected. When the old crisper drawers were put back in the fridge they didn't slide nicely at all - resisted sliding at several points and didn't slide home neatly. Very annoying! Turned out that over time the plastic ridges that are the drawers bearing surfaces had worn the old frames plastic, and some of the worn bits had tightly stuck to the drawer slide ridges. Lightly sanding the ridges until all traces of the white frame plastic were gone and then applying a light coating of a waxy lubricant (I used chapstick) solved the problem and the drawers now slide smoothly. Very satisfying! Good luck! 

Thanks to AppliancePartsPros.com youtube video. The repair went smoothly. First, the center crisper rail was an easy fix. Just removed the broken piece and placed the new one in. The refrigerator drain tube was a bit challenging because of working space. But removing the old part and the placing the new one was easy. Tools I used was, lots of towels, a bucket to collect ice, an electric fan (don’t want to use a heat gun cause I might damage the freezer interior), a socket wrench. Its been more than 24hrs. and the freezer looks brand new! Just saved $$$$! 

Complete replacement of crispier trays, frame, center rail, and glass was re-useable.
