How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3873614 / 280140 Drum Seal

Removed front and drum and old belt cleaned inside unit as needed.Replaced idler assembly and felt seal that seemed worn. Install new belt on drum and replace drum and reassemble as needed. 

I'm thinking I should get paid for this review, just kidding, anyway our Maytag dryer drum seals wore out the day I came home from the hospital for a heart stent. The surgery was on a Monday I came home Tuesday afternoon. I ordered the seals Wednesday morning, we received them Friday afternoon the same week. My wife and I both watched the Appliance Parts Pro video before we started. Me not being allowed to lift over 5 lbs. at the time needed some help. I popped the clips for the top removed the screws for the front panels and my wife then removed the front panels, drum belt and drum for me. I replaced the seals and she help reassemble the dryer, we were done in less than an hour, all this without taking the dryer out of the house, into a truck and to a repair shop. Clean residue off drum edge, spread adhesive, attached felt gasket and clamped with clothes pins 

Found the original drum seals were not properly glue from the factory. Both had come loose from the drum which allowed blow by from the exhaust and debris from under the dryer to get inside the drum unit. 

Replace rear seal. Rear seal was coming off in pieces causing the heat to exit the rear and making the drying cycle much longer. I had to practically take the entire dryer apart to replace the seal. The video claimed that the replacement can be done in the front of the dryer. My dryer also required me to remove the rear backing to access the belt. All is fine. 

I took the drum out of the dryer and replaced the seals.
