How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009858 / WP6-3129480 Dryer Drum Roller Axle

First I watched your videos. They were great and gave me the confidence to make the repair. Then I replaced both drum rollers, and their axles, and also replaced the idle arm roller. It took about 30 minutes and we have a quiet dryer again. Their website made it easy to order the correct parts too. And the parts arrived within days so I could get right on to the repair. Thanks! 

After reading through the diagnostic help and watching all the related repair videos I decided to replace everything in the rear drum support system along with the belt and idler pulley. I figured that the most time consuming part of the repair was disassembly and reassembly. Might as well do it all at once, Replaced drum support rollers, axles, idler pulley and the belt. Each of those parts took about 5 or 10 minutes. Entire job took 1:45. And that includes time to vacuum out 12 years of lint, and stopping to review the videos as needed. As someone else mentioned the drum support roller and axle nearest the heating element were far more worn than the other side. Actually found ground up rubber from roller wear. And the belt was extremely worn in spots- I suspect the drum was actually hanging up from time to time. Easy repair for the most part, the disassembly and reassembly were actually the hardest part, I have 2 tips- get a pair of snap ring pliers. Saves a lot of vocabulary words! And a small magnetic LED work light to be able to see inside the machine was very useful. Dryer now is running smoothly and quietly. 

I have an older Maytag Dryer, model MDE9316AYW. I started by looking at the information presented on the Appliance Parts Pros web site, and it was clear that the highest probability of failure was associated with drum support roller and its support shaft. These parts were purchased, and then installed with great success. Important note: The on-line videos are superb and made the repair go smoothly. 

Used your tutorial to take the dryer apart. Found roller seized on shaft. Ordered roller and shaft as well as the other roller and a new belt to replace as a maintenance step. Received the parts, installed them with help from your tutorial. All fixed and momma is happy! 

Ended up being the idler pulley. Did not need the other parts, but hanging on to them in case need in the future. 

Replaced rollers, axles, front bearings(pads) and the drive belt. Took about 1 hour, runs like a new dryer. 

Replaced all wear parts, pulley, rollers and studs, Teflon washers, felt drum seals front and back, front drum bearing supports, belt and cycling thermostat. All for just over $200 in parts. Good for another 15 years hopefully. Love getting parts from Appliance Parts Pros. Easy site to use, descent prices and next day delivery. 

Replaced rollers, roller pins and as long as I had the dryer taken apart I might as well replace the belt. My dryer is 21 years old, this the first issue I've had with it since I purchased it. 

Watched you tube video and followed instructions. 

Replaced the part causing the squeal.
