Peter F Tarrytown , NY March 19, 2018 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer DG8000 Terrible screeching sound and worn out felt seals. Recently moved into a new house with a 25 year old dryer that started screeching. The whole drum had quite a bit of play in all directions, so I figured it be a good idea to replace the support rollers, tumbler bearings, and felt seal. I also replaced the belt and idler pulley wheel while I was in there. I followed a combination of videos on this site as well as a few I found on YouTube to pull it all apart and put it back together again. Most time consuming part was replacing the felt seals and cleaning up the inside of the machine while I was in there. These old dryers are quite simple and everything comes apart with just a few hand tools. Only more unique tools I needed was a set of snap ring pliers for the drum support rollers and a hand held riveter, I picked up both for a total of $10 from a local harbor freight. When all was said and done it fired up with a nice soft hum. My wife didn't believe it was running initially. Wayne V Franklin , WI February 09, 2015 Rear support rollers were shot drum was squeeking badly and eventually started knocking Looked up possible parts via a layout on the web site and ordered the parts I needed, plus a few extras. Figured I'm gonna open this thing once and be done with it. Once I got access to these rollers, via removing the drum from the front, it was an easy fix. The studs that support the rollers were locked so tightly they would not come out. Luckily these were still good and I just elected not to replace them. Dryer works like new! David F El Paso , TX January 17, 2015 Appliance: Model MAYTAG, OLDER MODEL Girlfriend's dryer was making the dreaded "thumping" sound Ordered the parts on Sunday and they arrived on Tuesday with standard shipping. Went over today (Sunday), took the dryer apart and installed the new support wheels with new axles, washers and but. Reassembled the dryer, plugged it in and it sounded absolutely quiet. Whole job took about two hours, had to clean the interior while in there, and the girlfriend is very happy. Wonderful experience all the way around. David M Summit , MS October 12, 2019 Dryer and washer making noise With the parts I ordered from you except one of the drum rollers I got from you was out of round and was making dryer drum jump up and down. I was able to find an aftermarket roller at a local supply house to complete the repair. All ok now. Thank you for being there for us. Steve K Ann Arbor , MI June 13, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE5500AYW Dryer in newly purchased home squealed horribly when it ran After googling the issue, it sounded like the drum rollers were probably bad. Just in case, I ordered the roller axles too, as well as the drum belt and pulley bearing to replace while I was in there. The step by step videos that Appliancepartspros.com has make it almost impossible to screw up. I'm glad I ordered the roller axles, because one of them was worn to the point that metal dust was all over the bottom corner of the dryer. Thomas H Ukiah , CA May 02, 2019 Appliance: Model MAG4000AWQ My Maytag Neptune gas dryer after 20 years of use was making loud noise while in operation. Also the dryer seem to be running to hot. After reviewing your website for possible causes, and disassemble procedures, I disassembled the dryer unit. I found a lot of dirt but, also found a bad guide wheel that support the drum, the bearing in on the motor unit were leaking oil, and the blower wheel D shaft was worn out of shape causing the wheel to hit the housing. Also the original belt had air checking cracks which made sense to replace it. I decided to replace the thermostat per your website recommendation for solving over- heating. The felt seal on the front of the drum was damaged so I included a replacement in my order and installed a new seal. After receiving all of the necessary parts I performed the reassembly of the unit. After installing all of the parts I did a trial run and the belt jumped off the motor axle. After some fun reinstalling the belt properly I test ran the unit. Whoa it sounds like new. Oh but then a slight rattle noise started, I suspect because I did not replace the new drum roller axle that I purchased for the new drum roller. The noise seems to have decreased after multiple cycles, but I plan on disassembling the unit and installing the part. Over all the dryer is working like new, including the over heating issue seems to be solved too. Thank you for the great source of parts and installation videos. Jay T Niagara Falls , NY May 17, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE6000AZW 14 year old maytag dryer squeaking like crazy! It all started looking for a lint filter for the dryer. The filter was ripped across the top and no longer useful for its intended function. I Googled "MDE6000AZW Lint Filter" and one of the first few hits was Appliance Parts Pros. I clicked through and saw that there were other parts available for my machine. That got me thinking maybe the squeaky bits and pieces are replaceable too. I started to watch Matt's videos on replacing the guts of my dryer and figured $500+ CDN for a new dryer or $145 CDN for all new guts. I'm not cheap or frugal, but this thing works like a dream. A new one is sure to breakdown well inside 14 years onward. So, I ordered two drum rollers, two roller axles, drum bearings, a new belt and of course, a lint filter. I figured from Matt's videos that it was likely one of the roller wheels, but since I was going to be opening it up, I might as well replace all the moving parts anyway. Shipping to Niagara Falls, NY was super fast. Everything was a piece of cake to remove and replace. It took about 2 hours with the bride's help, but we cleaned every bit and piece we took off and gave the inside a good going-over too. I could have done it alone, but it was nice to have a spare hand just to hold things as required. Thanks Appliance Parts Pros. All the best! David P Binghamton , NY November 19, 2023 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE5500AYW Terrible squeaks and squeals the first couple minutes when the dryer stars. Replaced (2) drum support rollers, (2) dryer drum roller axles, drum belt, and belt tension pulley. I think only the (2) drum support rollers were the troublemakers. One of the drum support rollers barely would spin without a lot of force. While I had the dryer apart, it made sense to just replace all the potential causes. BTW...I did encounter a UPS carrier issue, unrelated to this store but the customer service agent at AppliancePartsPros.com took care of the situation and had new parts delivered in no time at all. ...Thank you!
