How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012281 / WP8268961 Dishwasher Door Hinge Friction Pad

My husband watched a video on how to fix it, was easy and simple. 

I ordered the part along with a couple of extras to be safe. Checked out the online video, and the repair took about 10 minutes 

Looked up on YouTube. Followed directions. Pulled dishwasher out from under the cabinet. Installed new part. 

I was ready to call a repairman to come fix my dishwasher. Fortunately, my wife Googled the issue and found some videos from AppliancePartsPros.com. I watched a 4 minute video and ordered the parts from them. It turned out that it was just the tension bands that sit on the hinge arm by the springs. This is a super easy 15 repair job. 

Replaced them in a few minutes. 

Removed kick plate And turned off power to the washer. Removed two screws from the top of the washer securing it to the counter. Had to adjust the front legs on the washer so I could pull it out from under the counter. Opened door and disconnected spring from door hinge Slid the friction pad over hinge Reconnected spring and pushed washer back in place. Secured two screws to countertop after I readjusted leveling legs on the front of the washer. Works great. 

Simple fix. Appliance parts pros had a video on their site about how to do it. 15 minute job. 

You had a video that explained exactly what I needed to fix the problem for my particular dishwasher. It was easy to order the right part at a reasonable cost. Shipping cost was reasonable as well as the shipping speed, in my opinion. I was able to fix the problem myself. 

1) Unscrewed the dishwasher from the countertop (two Philips head screws). 2) Raised the two-floor footings up about 1/4" from the floor 3) Opened the door halfway and used it to pull out the unit until the door springs were visible. 4) Closed the door. 5) Unhooked the door springs on each side. 6) Placed the new friction pads on the door spring arms. 7) Re-hooked the door springs to the spring arms. 8) Opened the washer door. Pushed the washer back under the counter and aligned the two screw holes. Inserted the screws partially tight. 9) Adjusted the two-floor footings to meet the floor and level the washer to the countertop. 10) Tightened the two counter screws. Done! 

Found two friction pads on the floor in front of the washer. Watched a video on the problem and ordered four friction pads. Pads arrived promptly and I installed pads according to video suggestions. The door works like new after a fifteen-minute fix.
