First of all, I thought that the springs had weakened and that I need new ones. But springs don't just suddenly go out. Something else happened.
Reading some reviews, I found that I needed a couple friction pads, whatever they were. From the diagram shown, you can't see where they get installed. But clicking on the friction pad part, there was a repair video! This is a simple install. But I would add one thing.
The pads are very stiff and don't slip in place very easily. The solution was to heat them up. Put one on your screwdriver and get a hair dryer. After about one minute, they slip right on.
