How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005786 / WP21002026 Washer Snubber Ring

I replaced the brake rotor and brake stator. Since these parts are integral to the snubber ring, I replaced it too. Though I'm a master auto mechanic, I've never worked on a washing machine before. But now that I'm retired, I've got the time and wanted to save the labor cost. So, I just watched the video on YouTube on the snubber replacement, which took me step by step for that. I added a few steps to the whole process to get the brake rotor out. One suggestion I have for others is to just take the transmission pulley off. It makes the whole job much less frustrating and adds less than a minute. I know I save a good 20 minutes of frustration by removing the pulley. The parts I ordered fit perfectly!! What a great experience. I just wish my wife was a bit more appreciative. Of course, she wanted a new machine! I told her it was like new!! Hahahahaha! 

Thought it was a bad spring but found other with the same problem said it was a snubber ring. Ordered snubber ring and six springs. Replacement parts was $30.00. Replaced it myself and it works like new again. 

Replaced snubber, one foot and springs. I bought a package of 1 inch #10 by 24 thread screws but 3/4 inch would probably have worked for temporarily holding the spring around the snubber under the tub pulley. The snubber was not worn through, but there was a lot of plastic dust around the pulley. I think the main problem was weak springs. Taking them off was a lot easier than putting the new ones on, especially the two on the back of the washer due to working at arms length. Vise grip pliers is a must have for that reason. So far all is well and the washer works great. 

Replaced with thrust bearing kit. Watched your video and it took about 10 minutes to fix. Thanks 

Model# MAV7257AWW Maytag Atlantis Washing Machine. Repairs were fairly easy along with the videos appliancepartspros offers on their website. Parts also came with instructions on how to install. Other videos were available on You Tube. The only part difficult to install was Thrust bearing kit - make sure when installing to pull down on shaft so washer and e-clip will fit. Another note, you can get a pulley for your replacement motor pulley on eBay and Maytag.com. Just pay close attention to make sure it specifies your machine and motor model. a Oh, and don't forget to replace the belt like I did when doing an overhaul! Overall great experience! 

I Googled my model number and your extremely helpful site had the part selector saying the snubber ring was (IIRC) 52% likely to be my problem and the springs 27% likely. I ordered both in the hopes that if I ordered by noon the parts could arrive the following afternoon before the weekend (they were). You provided a video of the repair using my exact washer and it was possible for me to perform the repair safely and effectively, I was very pleased and would recommend you to anyone 

I took the machine apart and installed a new brake rotor , Brake stator and a snubber ring, after the install the machine works great and no more squeaking. I will say one thing about AppliancePartsPros.com that when I first received the order the brake rotor was new in the sealed bag but the brake material wasn't attached to it, customer service was helpful and sent me a new part the next day. I will use this company again. 

I found the AppliancePartsPros site and this specific issue seemed very popular. I decided to order the Snubber Ring, Springs and a new drive belt since I was going to have it apart and it is 10+/- years old. The video on the website and linked to my email shipping confirmation was helpful up to a point. This particular unit does not have a removable access panel on the back. This makes it near impossible to access/remove at least two of the tub springs. I got out my flashlight and examined the interior of the cabinet and found that by removing eleven Torx screws on the base, removing the drain hose retaining plate and setting the wiring harness for the motor to the side, I was able to simply slide the base out of the cabinet with the tub still attached. This completely exposed the assembly and provided complete access to all components. It's still a bear to get the springs off but if you enlist the help of your Grandson to stabilize the base and tilt the tub towards the spring you are removing and later replacing it's much easier. Washer now back in service, I hope for a few more years at least. 

Ordered a tub seal kit and snubber ring, followed the online video. Started at 4 pm 3 hours later ran a load of laundry noise was gone! My maytag is 15 years old not one problem till now, hopefully l will get another 15 out of her. Couldn't get one bolt off the aluminum hub so I took a grinder and cut it off also the hub was frozen to the shaft. Cut it off with the grinder w/thin cutting wheel, after that put the washer back together. Works like it always did. It was about 5pm on a Monday when I ordered the parts. Tuesday I got home at 3:30 pm, the parts had arrived! That was crazy fast! Less than 24 hrs! You guys are awesome! Watched video online, ordered correct part and tool and followed the video instructions. Very clear instructions and advice to fix a problem with a part I had never heard of. I really recommend getting the spring removal tool as it made the job so much easier. Well worth the money spent.
