How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010168 / WP63907 Suspension Spring

Replaced the long suspension spring at the rear of the tub. It had cut through the lower attachment point on the frame and allowed the tub to tilt forward so far that some water splashed away from the tub while filling. I also replaced the three shorter suspension springs while I had the machine apart. These springs were nearly worn through at the attachment point similar to the longer spring. 

Replaced spout and hose, and also replaced all springs and brackets. APPLIANCE PARTS PROS made it very easy with the videos and pictures they have available. Did all work in about one hr.with simple tools. 

I replaced the three suspension springs. 

Falow the video, instrctions. the110-26742500 has two more springs. 3 suspension 1 counter balace. 

Replaced the two springs that hold it in place. 

Had replaced all rusty hose clamps, cleaned all the various valves, and checked all around but couldn't find any leaks. My wife thought the internal drum seemed looser than usual. I found a Youtube video on broken tub springs. Ordered these 3 small and 1 long spring along with 2 short and 1 long replacement brackets. And 3 of the spring retainers. Replaced all these parts. The long spring attaches to a hole in the base frame that had rusted out so it had no tension. The other 3 springs were weak and had a lot of wear on the ends that attached to the frame and the retainers. Was definitely the right way to go and replace all these parts. Then an important step after that was to relieve the washing machine. Our 2 front feet were loose - lock nuts were not tight. And the level was off. All works great again. Parts were made in USA, marked Whirlpool on the bags, and of excellent quality. Brackets used 1 screw and a tab instead of a second screw like the original brackets. The parts are an exact fit. I'll use this company again for sure. Their videos are great also. 

Replaced suspension springs. 

I have a Maytag centennial washer that recently started shaking/walking. I found your site and I would have to say it’s the best site I’ve seen for the DIY person who likes to fix things themselves and save a lot of money in the process. I couldn’t even figure out how to get it apart to evaluate what was wrong until I watched your troubleshooting videos. All the suspension springs and brackets looked good and wear pads were not worn so I was a little puzzled why it was shaking so bad. I ended up replacing all the suspension springs as I thought maybe they were just not providing the tension they were when they were new. The parts came quickly and the repair took about 30 minutes. A quick test run and the drum was still shaking but not as bad, we had just put in new vinyl flooring and I had put felt pads on the washer feet thinking this would help not scratching the floor. I took the felt off and did another test run and no shaking at all. The new springs definitely helped but the felt pads amplified the problem by letting the machine move during the spin cycle enough to throw the drum off balance. Anyway great site that will be a go to for me with any future appliance issues! 

The tub suspension pads were gone. I replaced those, as well as the springs. I bought them, and figured I’d replace them anyhow. Didn’t seem that they were bad, but I’m a bad judge at times. I’m glad that I used this web site, and videos. The instruction was almost spit on. But 100% worth learning from. Thank you, this saved me so much money. 

I inspected all the springs and they were all intact, solid mounts and looked good, so I was a bit puzzled. However, I replaced all of them and it is now as quiet and calm as can be. My repair was not quite as easy as the video, but even with recent thumb surgery and torn meniscus, I was able to replace them all within an hour.
