How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010168 / WP63907 Suspension Spring

I started by changing the suspension spring that was easy. I put it back together and it was still doing the same thing, I learned that you don't have to pull out the tube to change out suspension pads all you do push the tube sideways or forward and put a 4x4 piece of wood under the motor at the bottom and change out the pads with a thin flat-head screwdriver or tap them out with a hammer. Watch your fingers if woodblock slides out you will smash your fingers. Whirlpool Washing machine works great like new. 

Replaced damaged bracket and another that was still intact but also rusted as a preventative measure. Also replaced three springs. And bracket screw. Had difficulty removing screw holding damaged bracket as was also rusted and eroded. 

Ordered two suspension springs from appliancepartspros.com. When they arrived, removed the old weak springs, and installed the new ones. 

Removed outer case, water fill spout, agitator, inner drum then outer tub. Tub was hard to get off due to rust buildup in the rubber seal area. Replaced all three suspension pads, three suspension springs and the smaller balance spring in the back of the base. Cleaned up rusty base, inner drum and seal are where tub seal goes. Used rustoleum rust reverting spray. Turns rusty metal into a black primer. Great stuff! Reassembled everything. Now spins smoothly. The suspension pads didn’t look too bad, but the new ones are much “slicker” my old springs were weakened from rust and the smaller one was completely broken. 

The bracket had to be replaced because the rust had eaten through the bracket and there was nothing left to hold the spring. Also, the screw holding the bracket to the frame had rusted to the bracket. It wasn't turning. I broke the bracket off in two pieces. I kept turning the part of the bracket that was still attached to the machine to loosen it somehow from the screw. I was then able to remove the screw with pliers. Afterwards it was just a matter if installing the bracket and spring. 

Watched your video on "how to" diagnose my problem, ordered what I needed, got my tools together, parts got delivered in 3 days (not 5), watched video again, installed parts! That easy. 1,2,3,.. Works like a dream and saved $100.00 bucks minimum. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 

I fixed my issue by replacing the three suspension springs for the wash tub. This was very easy to do and in all took maybe 15 minutes to do. The old springs were all still intact but I guess their tension was not as much as they used to be which led to the vibration issues. 

I used the schematics, parts lists, Q & A section, and how to videos and also chat to diagnose the problem. But the problem was intermittent. So I had to replace the two probable parts responsible. Also in the process of moving the machine a tub support pad had broken and fallen out. As a note: it really isn't necessary to remove the tubs to replace the tub support pads. I couldn't get the tubs out. So I tried to do it without removing them and was successful. As a result I purchased a spanner wrench that I really didn't need. Other than that everything went smoothly.
