How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5985146 / W10820036 Door Switch

Replaced it. 

Used online parts breakdown to order proper part. 

Just like old times, retired service tec 31 yrs Ck'ed for lint build up while open. 

Replace sensors 

Watched video. Ordered parts that I needed. Replaced the part. Problem fixed! 

The replacement switch ( not OEM) was a perfect match. The new housing and spring steel attachment did not fit and had to use old one. I recommend taking a picture of the old one before taking it out so the alignment is more obvious. The repair took longer than I expected as I tried to make new part work for a while. 

Replaced switch. 

Bought the part and watched the video. It was spot on...Fixed the dryer door in approximately 5 minutes! The worst part was putting the screws back in! Thanks for the instruction videos, they are awesome and clear and easy to understand!! 

Parts were perfect. I tried to get the switch in without tipping the front panel out, but I finally removed the top 2 screws and tipped it forward away from the drum. This gave me plenty of room. I also taped the switch and the activator arm together to make lining everything up easier.
