How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6973145 / W11396033 Door Switch

Putty knife or thin screwdriver blade to pry old switch out, pull down on cord connection, pull off old switch & plug new switch in like a wall plug (but this has 3 tines) Super easy! 

Watched several video on how to identify the problem. Completed checking my system. Determined which of the system components were not working. Used Appliance Pros to identify the correct parts for my refrigerator. The parts arrived in a few days. Installed them in less the hour. With in two days the ice bin was full. It really was a simple repair. The only tool I needed was a 1/4 inch Nut Driver. 

Easy fix. Light switch replacement on refrigeration fresh food side. Super easy to replace, old switch pops out new one push in. AppliancePartsPros made it so simple with their step by step instructions ..Simple process from beginning to the end. Thanks guys ! 

Popped it out with a butter knife and Unplugged it and ordered a new one. Plugged the new one in and pushed it back in place. Very easy.

Replaced duck-bill grommet that clogs up. It's a common problem. There are YouTube Vids that walk you through the whole process. 

I ordered a new one from AppliancePartsPros after looking up the part on the web site. It's a Maytag side by side refrigerator. The refrigerator model number is on a sticker inside on the wall at the top shelf on the left. I watched the video on how to install - very trivial. I just used a paint scraper to pop the old one out as in the video. There are only 2 leads on the switch, unlike the 3 leads in the video, so I switched the leads from the old to the new, popped the new one in and that was that. Took maybe 10 minutes. 

Followed directions from video that Appliance Parts Pro had online and changed the switch. It was difficult to remove and took effort to replace in the opening, but it was successful. The best part of story was I ordered part in the afternoon and received it the next day by FedEx. I live in a rural area and the estimated delivery was two to five days.
