How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094323 / 279973 Dryer Thermal Cut-Off Kit

Replaced a high heat thermal cut off. Turns out a hard duct about 10' long-running under a home addition was partially clogged with lint. After cleaning the duct and replacing the sensor the dryer was up and running again like new. 

Replaced thermistors next to the heating element. Used multimeter to check for continuity, and one of the two read "open". Verified with APP support via phone. Received a package of 2 different thermistors, and replaced both. The dryer works well now. 

This was a simple fix. Lint everywhere in the lower part of the dryer had set off the thermal cutoff fuses. After thoroughly cleaning out the lint, the fuses took only a few minutes to replace and the dryer is up and running like new! The lint was absolutely a fire hazard and I am glad the fuses had done their job. I will be doing an annual cleaning from now on. I received genuine Whirlpool parts promptly from Appliance parts.com HEY, DON'T FORGET TO UNPLUG DRYER BEFORE ANY REPAIR!!!

Found appliance parts pros online. I looked for and found my dryer parts specific to my dryer model. Prices were very competitive and reasonable from what I researched. When they say next day delivery, that's what they mean. Very happy with the service from them. Dryer working great now. 

Watched your video and ordered the parts and replaced them works great . Got the parts in a couple of days great service I would say I saved a couple hundred dollars. 

Checked heating components and found a bad thermostat. Ordered the high heat and cut-out kit. 

With the video installation went smoothly. 

Replaced the heating element, Thermal Cut Off Kit and Thrmst-fix. Also took the opportunity to completely clean out the lower part of the unit including the fan housing and the discharge duct. It certainly showed the 10+ years of use (neglect). We agreed that at least once a year we should give it a good cleaning. 

After researching what the major causes were, i.e. thermal fuse, start switch, door switch, I ordered the parts for my particular model and through the process of elimination, thermal fuse first, start switch, then door switch, I found it was a defective door switch and now my dryer works like new again. The videos for repair on your site for each part made it easier for me to view and understand and aided in the time and effort it took to repair it.
