How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007513 / WP3-81329 Defrost Timer

I replaced the defrost timer. The hardest part was finding the timer itself. Diagram shows it inside the freezer in the control box by thermostat however it was not. Called Appliance parts pros and a nice young lady looked up my model and gave me more options on where to look for it. It ended up looking at the back of the freezer on the bottom left side of freezer tucked away. Appliance parts was amazing- ordered part late morning one day and received it early afternoon the next day. I would recommend Appliance Parts Pros! 

My Maytag upright freezer (MQF1656TEW02) kept on gathering frost and would end up keeping food warm, which sorta defeats the purpose of a freezer right? It was only two years old and it was out of warranty... I had read where the defrost timer are common to got out on these babies. Sure enough, ordered one from here, replaced it and it's working like a champ! Thanks AppliancePartsPros! 

I called Appliance Parts Pro and they walked me though how to test the other items that may cause my issue. It was found that I only needed the defrost timer. I ordered the timer on Sunday and the part arrived on Tuesday!!! I installed it in less than two minutes and we are up and running!!! I was going to purchase a new freezer but Appliance Parts Pro saved me repair costs or the purchase of a new freezer. Thanks for the help and I am so thankful for your incredible service!!! 

I replaced the defroster timer, it is not located where the diaghram is showing, looking at back of freezer, on the bottom left side on the inside of the frame fastened with 2 hex head screws is the timer, took the two screws out took off the plug and replaced the timer, so far so good, good luck, the only other thing it could be is the heater. 

Replaced both the thermostat and defrost timer. 

Replaced the defrost timer. The hardest part of this repair was finding where Maytag had it hidden. The replacement was easy. 

Observed frost/ice around return air intake indicating a frozen evaporator. Found replacement part at appliancepartspros.com and the VERY next day the part arrived. Never had parts shipped that fast. 

Remove product. Thaw freezer.defrost with ambient air.remove evaporatorAccess panel.manually Engage defrost. Found timer did not start defrost cycle.check running amps on defrost element.you guys are the best.my part came within 24 hours with normal shipping and you were $20 cheaper than a local providersThanks 

Got a new defrost timer and put it in.
