How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6783993 / W11259786 Track, Assembly (Rh)

Dishwasher is approx 5 years old. no previous issues. Suddenly upper rack operated with difficulty. Found 2 ball bearings in bottom of washer! Discovered from where they came and ordered replacement right hand track. replacement required only pulling the unit out and reinstalling new track, 4 screw bolts. Simple I was curious as to why this happened. I'm not quite sure but it appears that the far inside end only of the right track is a slight bit more open which allows the ball bearing holder some wiggle room, probably now open more due to wear. This allowed the balls on the far inside end of the plastic sliding bearing holder to release the end 2 balls. Why the end is more open could be a mfg defect. The new one does not appear to have this slight issue. But, in the process of removing the upper rack, I broke off a release plastic tab on the upper rack adjuster. It is a frail plastic tab. I would not have bothered with it if ordering the track replacement wasn't necessary. I ordered the replacement adjuster since I had to order the track. Upon installation, the new tab broke off exactly as the old one. Only needed to touch it! Reassembling the adjuster takes some patience! Appliance Parts PROS are great. Bought new slides (2) for a fraction of the cost the manufacturer wanted. Repaired in 20 minutes or less. 

Replaced the upper right-hand track. 

Replaced both parts with the guidance of the online tutorial. Fix was really quite easy with the tutorial. Replacement parts were perfect. 

The new parts fixed the problem. 

Looked the repair up on Youtube. Purchased the slides and rack adjusters from APP and installed myself (at 73 years old). Instructions and repair went as illustrated but pulling the dishwasher out took more time due to under counter restrictions. Hint (not in video), when repair is complete disconnect dishwasher drain hose from disposal and run a couple of rinse cycles into a bucket to remove bearings that fell into pump without damaging your disposal. Not technically challenging if you can follow instructions but some physical effort required. 

I pulled it out from the wall by unscrewing the sides. Then I just unscrewed the old rack and screwed back on the new one. 

I purchased the parts indicated on this review and... well the dishwasher is working fine now. I cannot complain about the quality of the parts, everything worked extremely well. I do feel like I would have spent less money just buying a new dishwasher. 

Replaced pieces with new parts ordered. As others have stated the hardest part was removing the dishwasher from underneath the counter. If you are attempting replacing tracks be sure to turn off water supply and disconnect from unit. Fortunately I did not snap the plastic attachment when I started to slide the dishwasher out-it just started leaking. 

The repair took about 30 minutes. The dishwasher had to be lowered and the water and drain disconnected in order to putt it out. The parts were a proper fit. Marked RH and LH side. The parts came second day.
