How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5985115 / W10822681 Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve

Ordered new water inlet valve 

Replaced solenoid thinking that was the issue. Turned out just be ice in waterline. Part did come quickly and actually included useable instructions! 

After checking the symptoms online, I bought an icemaker fill valve. About $90 with tax and shipping. The only tools I used was a nut driver and a #2 Phillips screwdriver. The water connections on this valve was just a matter of pulling them off the old valve and sticking them on the new valve. The electrical was much the same. Very easy fix. Two hours later we had ice. 

I replaced water inlet valve (W10408180). When re-pressurized, there was a leak from the connector (which was not replaced) press-in fitting. Not seeing a part number on the parts drawing, I called and talked to Dillon who was able to determine the correct replacement part (W10445062). It seems to have solved the ice maker problem. Thank you for having a knowledgable real person to talk to.

I watched your helpful utube videos , decided that was my problem and ordered an inlet valve on a Monday at noon, I had the parts Tuesday at noon, amazing and in ten minutes had the ice maker up and running..thanks for the help and fantastic service..
