How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6022336 / WPW10498990 Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve

I called AppliancePartsPros.com and told them my problem. I couldn’t find the exact problem I had on the online page. My ice maker wasn’t making ice but I was able to get water out of the door after removing the ice bucket. I realized the water tube that feeds the ice maker was frozen and not allowing water to go into the ice-forming part of the ice maker. They told me that it was likely the water inlet valve and they gave me instructions on how to test it with my multi meter. I tested it like they instructed me to and it tested bad. I ordered the part immediately and installed it in about 10 minutes. I had ice the next morning, thanks AppliancePartsPros! 

REPLACED ICE MAKER, However, I did run into a problem, My old ice maker had been replaced with an updated version that required a wiring harness replacement as well, When I received my part from AppliancePartsPros.com. I had two wiring harness with the ice maker in the box, But there were no instructions in the box. After contacting them online I found that the two wiring harnesses were for two different size refrigerators one was for a 25 cu ft the other was for a 22 cu ft. Neither harness was marked as to which one to use. These should be marked in the future as to which one each harness is for. I was sent the instructions by SALLY a service rep by email. After reading the instructions and looking up the repair on YOU TUBE I finally completed the job. I can say the delivery time was great. I ordered on Friday received the parts on Sunday. I would suggest that AppliancePartsPros.com in the future that they advise the customer of parts update when ordering parts . I have ordered parts from them before and they are great in helping locate the correct parts needed for appliance repairs 

Replaced valve. How to video on website is spot on. 10 min fix 

I installed a new water inlet valve, Great water flow immediately but did not make ice overnight, I turned the icemaker off then on again. In about 5 minutes I heard water going into the icemaker and it started making ice quickly and has not stopped. 

Friend fixed it in less than a half hour. 

Ordered the part from you, but unfortunately it was the wrong part, after taking some pictures of both parts it was determined that you did have the correct part in stock. I must commend your company for outstanding customer care, You are one of the easiest companies I have done business with online. It is a pleasure to do business with you and when I need another part you have my business. 

I replaced the water valve and the supply line to the ice maker, which I inadvertently split when poking about while the line was frozen. The hardest part was unhooking the ice maker supply line and routing the new one back in. Take a picture of how all the lines are run before you take it apart. 

I replaced the water inlet valve. The hardest part was removing all the screws for the bottom plate across the back of the refrigerator! My biggest problem was having to get down to floor level, I am still healing from a total knee replacement surgery! 

Removed the refrigerator lower back panel, removed the old valve, and replace it with a new one. Important helpful hints: + Pay close attention to the setup of the old valve before removing - I took pictures. + Be gentle when unscrewing the copper fitting on the old valve so you can reuse on new one use wd40 if needed to help loosen. + Use care or gloves handling the aluminum back panel- it can be sharp.
