How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6022336 / WPW10498990 Water Inlet Valve

Our Whirlpool GI6SARXXF05 ice maker stopped making ice. I read A LOT of forums, viewed A TON of YouTube to try to self diagnose the possible issue. APP.com helped to point me in the right direction. Symptoms were: Not Making Ice, No water was being dispensed into the ice maker tray BUT was working perfectly in the left French Door outer dispenser. I removed the ice maker (per a video I found, actually fairly easy for a DIY) inspected the ice tray, all looked good. I 1st replaced our water filter. Still a no-go. I then ordered (mistakenly) and replaced the thermostat. I meant to order the Inlet valve, but since I did it on my phone, I didn't pay attention....(duh). But after chatting in with Kayla, she immediately suggested replacing the Inlet Water Valve because of what I described. She hit the nail on the head 100%!!! Ordered and replaced the rear side Inlet Valve. The total time to R&R was 15-20 minutes. APP.com will ALWAYS be my 1st choice as a DIY's. P.S. - The Alumilastic Cement was ordered because I didn't order it when I mistakenly ordered and replaced the thermostat. So I R&R'd the T-stat again and applied the Alumilastic Cement to guarantee that the T-Stat repair was to be good and not an issue. I sometimes do it right because I do it twice....oy... lol 

I fixed it by replacing the dual water valve and the incoming water valve as well because both froze with water in them during a temporary storage situation. I was a bit apprehensive about the repair but AppliancePartPros had videos of a guy doing the repair! That's awesome. Talk about a confidence builder. The first part I ordered only fixed half the problem and I had to order another part last week but it came in yesterday. When I replaced that part, the dual quick connect valve, I didn't even watch the video again because I was confident. And guess what? My fridge works again! Thanks! 

Got the valve inlet made sure i had voltage to valve ...all good, and installed it in place of old one. i did cut 1/8 of end of old feed hose to give a nice new surface to grab on to. put everything back turned on water it did not fill ice maker.. took ice maker partially apart . found 3 deformed ice cubes blocking area that lets water flow ..as soon as i removed them water started flowing again...i now have ice....and a new valve inlet.. i must say this... i got the part i ordered the next day with regular shipping....very impressive. i will definitely be a return customer. thank you. 

I replaced the water inlet valve because of age and it is one of the first units to go. That's the easiest one to replace, shut the water off unbolt the unit put the new one in and the electrical. And the ice maker thermostat was more involved had to take the unit out and did all the steps on the video and it worked out. 

Replaced the water valve and the motor on the ice maker. I think it was the motor that ended up making the difference but either way, WE HAVE ICE AGAIN. very easy to order the correct part and had them in two days. Videos online showed exactly how do disassembled and replace parts. 

Easy replacement. Unplug the power and turn off the water supply. Access the rear, remove the bottom panel, and remove water lines and electrical connector. Replace valve with the new valve, and reverse steps above. 

Two days before we were to list our house for sale the water inlet valve started leaking. We ordered the correct part from Appliance Parts Pros for overnight delivery. Since it was a weekend (and a holiday weekend besides!) it ended up taking two days to get here. Once it arrived it was a quick ten minute fix. 

Replaced the water inlet valve for the ice maker and water dispenser. 

Replaced it with the new one ordered from you. It fit perfectly and we now have a fully functioning refrigerator. Thank you. 

Ordered part and completed 10 minute job. Removed water inlet, unscrewed panel then removed solinoid and plastic water line. Replaced part, put back together turned on water and all worked perfect. Had called a repair co., they wanted to claim 2 hours and part at 220 $. They ar wa wanted 90 for the part. Don't be fooled they steal from customers.
