How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6285450 / W11168740 Cold Water Inlet Valve

Checked online to find out how to retrieve Kemore washer trouble codes. Trouble codes deciphering is not straight forward. Decided that the cold water inlet solenoid was the issue, Ordered cold water inlet valve from AppliancePartsPros.com. It arrived about 6 days later, perfect fit, exact duplicate of the original. Simple repair, unplugged washer, cold water inlet valve is located in the back of the controls cabinet on top of washer. Turned off the water to washer and disconnected the hose, opened back panel, disconnected the electrical plugs to valve. Removed the 2 screws holding it in place. Installed the new and reversed the process. Flushed the cold-water line to the washer also. 

Replaced cold water intake valve. First I was able to tell which valve was making the noise (hot or cold) by putting a finger on the valve while it was making the noise. I watched one of your videos about the replacement process. It was very easy. Just be careful when taking off the fragile electrical connections. I used a flat tip screwdriver blade of the right withe to lightly start prying the wires off AFTER I removed the valve. Otherwise very simple. 

Ordered the replacement valve from AppliancePartsPros.com. New, OEM part came within two days. Took about 30 minutes to install. Problem solved! 

I tested the cold water inlet valve and there was no continuity so I ordered the part, replaced it and voila!! It's now working! 

Pulled the back to see if I could find the leak. Nothing was on the tub or the pump area. However there was water on the back lower left side. My girlfriend read on You Tube that the valves may have a leak. Pulled the upper back panel off and sure as heck, The hot water valve had calcium on it and the back plate was stained. Replaced the two items and no leaks. 

Replaced the water inlet valve. 

Replaced both valves,1/4” socket and wrench. Channel locks for hoses. Took twenty minutes, couldn’t have been easier. 

Replaced cold water inlet solenoid valve assembly. 

I found out the problem from your videos, ordered the part and replaced it, took about 20 min. The washer works great now! Thanks for having a very good site and OEM parts. I use your site and buy your parts every time I need repair advice!
