How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014364 / WP99001359 Dishwasher Water Inlet Valve

Part arrived the day after I ordered it. Impressed! The biggest part of the job was removing the dishwasher from the under counter to have access and room to remove and replace the valve. I laid the dishwasher on its back to have easy access to work on it. Had to pay attention to the position/orientation of the elbow plumbing connection that had to be removed from the old part and replaced on the new part. Replaced the water discharge line hose clamp with a new one. Slid the unit halfway under the counter to replace the water inlet line. After threading on with my fingers as far as I could, I used a box wrench to tighten it a little at a time as there is not much room. Slid it under the counter rest of the way and gave it a test run. All good! 

We ordered a Water Inlet Valve. 

I replaced the Water Inlet Valve. 

After replacing the Impeller Kit, I still had one problem left. Even before my wife was complaining that she would find a puddle of water at the bottom of the dishwasher tub when not in use. I attempted a few times to clean the valve parts but this time the problem got worse, the inlet valve was leaking more and it actually overflowed the tub and water was pouring on the floor. Once again, I ordered part from AppliancePartsPros, paid for overnight shipping because by now we were without the dishwasher for over 4 weeks. Part arrived on-time as expected and only took about half hour to install. Note: I replaced the squeeze-type hose clamp on the valve outlet with a screw-type to make it easier to remove/install. 

I ordered the water inlet valve after watching a trouble shooting video and replaced the part when it showed up and the dishwasher ran perfectly. 

Bought new water intake valve & installed. 

I pulled it out from under the counter and put it upside down and then fixed it. 

Replaced water inlet valve. 

Bought a new unit and installed it. 

I pulled out the old water inlet valve and when I measured the coil resistance, it was open. So I ordered a new valve, installed it and the dishwasher is back in operation.
