How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011851 / WP8182862 Water Valve

Followed the instructions from "how to" video provided by Appliance Parts Pros, made the actual replacement too easy. Took longer to clean floor and reset (maneuver into place) washer, than to replace part. 

After realizing there was a water inlet problem first thing I did was check the screens they were clean so I did and ohms test on the water inlet solenoids . After realizing the cold water inlet valve was defective with no reading. I change the whole unit that was a ticket it's working fine once again 

I went online to ApplianceParts Pros and after reviewing the trouble shooting guide for my make and model of washer, was able to properly diagnose the problem with the washer. It was a bad water inlet valve which I ordered from the site at a price less than $55. I also reviewed the onsite repair video to make sure I knew how to fix the problem. The part arrived in 2.5 days with no special shipping. In fact, I received notification that the part had shipped within 12 hours of ordering it. I replaced the valve in less than 15 minutes by following the very simple and clear directions on the video. Had the machine back in order 6 days sooner than a local repair man could show up. Saved over $100 bucks for a service call, labor and installation of the part. Fixing these washers are a snap. My wife could even do it. 

Replaced the inlet valve, easy fix 

Replace vater valve 

Easy fix. Remove 4 screws, the water inlet lines, one hose clamp and two electrical connectors. Should have done it long ago. I noticed the soap dispenser leaving powder in it before it had the error code, so I just put water in to dissolve the soap. Now with a new water valve, it works as it should. It puts plenty of water in the washer now. 

Replaced the valve with this one. Video showed exactly what to do, super easy.

Replaced water intake valve. I am a 76 year old female. I had to climb over the washer dryer to get to the back of the washer. I could not get to the back of the washer without a lot of work, so pushed it forward as far as possible to get behind it. That was the biggest challenge. My husband could not get behind it but I could fit. It was a very easy replacement. Saved a house call for a repair man. Ordered the part late on a Thursday and it was delivered Sat. Very quick turn around. 

Replacing the water valve made the internal leak in the drum stop.
