We replaced the black door seal gasket around the front of the dishwasher. The old black seal gasket had begun to deteriorate, every time it was touched black stuff would rub off onto hands and onto utensils in the upper basket. We wore some disposable gloves to remove the old seal to avoid getting the black stuff on our hands. Before entirely removing the old seal gasket we studied its placement to tell which way the new seal gasket should be placed. We didn’t want to place the seal gasket backwards. I folded the seal gasket in half as the video suggested to find the center and marked it with a magic marker. We carefully cleaned the narrow channel groove where the new one would fit to be sure there was no debris or black stuff remaining. As the video suggested we aligned the marked center of the seal with the door latch and began pressing the seal gasket into the channel groove at the top center. We finger pressed left and right along the top and stopped at the curves. We looked to see how much seal gasket was hanging down and measured to be sure an equal amount would eventually be pressed into the side grooves with the ends in a similar distance from the bottom. We knew not to stretch the seal gasket. Once the seal gasket was in place we double checked with finger pressing to be sure it was equally pressed into place all around. Almost done! I used a paper towel with ordinary glass cleaner to clean the door where the seal gasket makes contact to be sure no black stuff remained. I removed the strainer from the bottom of the dishwasher and scrubbed it clean with a toothbrush and liquid dish detergent. The black stuff from the old seal gasket had accumulated in the screens and plastic parts. This job was quite easy, did not require any tools except paper towels, spray cleaner, toothbrush, liquid dish detergent and an old rag. We ran the dishwasher through a short rinse cycle to be sure there would be no leaks.
