Well, I found Appliance Pros website and watched the repair videos that corresponded to the problem. There were several things it could have been so I ordered all the parts that seemed likely.
The parts all arrived in about two days just as promised. I watched the videos referring to each of the parts to be replaced again before taking the dryer apart. The videos were the clearest and most helpful I ever used for a repair. It was an added bonus that the dryer featured in the video was identical to mine. I was also very pleased that all the parts were original factory items and apparently made in USA.(when does that happen anymore?) The whole job went smoothly-everything was removed and replaced as easily as the video described. Since I had everything apart I got to clean the inside of the dryer as well.
I do not know exactly which part or parts actually fixed the problem but it doesn't matter. It was still cheaper than calling a repair tech. and I may have headed off the next repair.
When my washer goes out I'll be calling on you again.
