Therese N Blacksburg , VA November 23, 2015 Appliance: Kenmore Refrigerator 25355699407 Kenmore Refrigerator 25355699407: Ice dispenser auger won't stop turning. How to replace Control Board (Refrigerator). First, I will never, ever make the mistake of unscrewing anything on an appliance while it is still connected to power - what started as a cosmetic fix on the freezer door ended up costing me $340 to fix after I shorted out one of the boards for the dispenser. Replaced both the Ice dispenser power board and Ice dispenser control board. I tried to get information on how to test which of my boards had gone bad, since these are pricey parts, but could not find a reliable way to test. And since these boards are very sensitive to static discharge (AND since I caused the problem by disconnecting/reconnecting the original boards), I did not wish to test them by connecting one of my old (status unknown) boards to one of the new ones. I'm pretty novice at repair, but found videos on how to physically work with the boards. . Tips: 1. Be sure to have a grounding strap before you open the packages, 2. Be sure to clearly mark the wires which connect to the microswitches before you disconnect them, 3. Fish the water dispenser tube down through the outside hole before you screw in the power board 4. Connect the ribbon cable to the control board first, then screw in the control board to the front panel, and then insert the other end of the ribbon cable into the power board slot. Delighted with the success of the repair! 16 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
