This was the first repair on a '95 Kenmore Series 80 dryer. After opening up the dryer and seeing the Felt seal, drum belt and roller were heavily worn, it seemed this caused the motor to overheat and die.
I opened the front and back of the dryer and vacuumed heavy amounts of dust cake in around the motor blower and other areas. This also aided in putting a strain on the motor.
The repairs were not too difficult. The drum belt took the longest due to the dry time and cleaning off the remains of the previous belt. A sanding sponge and some adhesive remover did the trick.
The motor was also easy to install. Basically unplug and re-plug connectors. I also reused the motor mounting clips. Due to the age of my motor, two connectors had to be cut off and new supplied connectors were crimped on, easy. The wheels come with the triangular "cotter pins" but I saved and reused the originals.
The dryer runs as it did new. Nice and quiet and the drum moves freely as it should. Outside of kneeing and sitting on the ground to do the repair, it was pretty easy and straight forward unless you don't know which end of the screwdriver to use.
