How to replace Refrigerator Temperature Sensor. Cleaned air vents under refrigerator, vacuumed out evaporators and blew out dust from the compressor compartment, let defrost for most of the day. Plugged it back in and it worked, for about a week, then did the same thing. Ordered and replaced both the defrost sensor and the temperature sensor for the refrigerator side. The entire bottom half of the evaporator was a block of ice. I used a heat gun to melt all of the ice, and then re-assembled refrigerator. Now I'm waiting to see if that fixed the problem. 16 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
