I did some trouble shooting by turning the ring on the timer , was able to get the drain cycle to work by moving the ring around control knob. This would work some of the time and other times you could hear motor try to start then stop if I moved the dial too far. I checked to see if this occurred on other permanent and delicate cycle as well and found similar issues with draining or spinning.
I found your trouble shooting guide with related and parts to problems very useful. I was able to determine issue was more than likely the timing mechanism and decided it probably be good to replace the pump and drive belts while I was at it.
Timer and belts took me about 40 minutes to remove and replace, Machine is running like new!
