Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Getting ff error evaporator fan would run just a short time after resetting pwr   Jack T. • Athens , GA • December 21, 2014

Removed the freezer drawers, ice maker, and panel that the fan motor is attached to. Changed out the fan motor reinstalled everything and plugged it in, and presto. I had ordered the control board just in case but didn't need it. The fan motor wasn't the easier part to replace but it was the cheaper of the two. Because the old motor would run for just a short time I assumed that it wasn't sending a signal back to the control board telling it that it was running. I was right!! Read more

Washer won't spin or agitate? A faulty drive motor causes humming noises and stopping mid-cycle. This direct replacement restores drum rotation.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Machine stops between cycles & lid unlocks requires manual cycle movement to finish wash   James K. • Plano , TX • November 29, 2015

This was a tricky one to figure out. The Maytag Centennial MVWC400XW4 would fill and wash, then stop before spin cycle or would not complete the spin cycle. We had to manually move the dial to rinse & spin, etc. to get it to finish a load. This technique worked but it definitely became a pain to do and at the time we didn't notice how much longer the machine took calibrating a wash load. I called Sears initially thinking I really didn't want to mess with this and they came out. They... Read more
