The seal on the door of the refigerator was damaged also the hinge cap needed replacing as it was cracked Michael S. • Fredericksburg , VA • January 20, 2016
I took the new seal out of it's packaging and used a blowdryer on low heat to soften up the seal so that the crease from shipping (it was folded to ship) disappeared. Next I took the refrigerator door off, removed the old seal, & cleaned the area where the new seal would be applied. The video online was easy to follow and this...

The Alumilastic Cement is an OEM part for Whirlpool appliances, typically used in refrigerators and freezers. It serves as a thermal mastic compound, designed to provide a secure and heat-conductive bond between various components, such as evaporator coils and the interior walls of the appliance.
Causes of a bad alumilastic cement can include drying out, cracking, or losing its adhesive properties over time. This can occur due to age, exposure to temperature fluctuations, or improper application. When the cement fails, it can lead to poor thermal conductivity and decreased cooling efficiency.
Symptoms of a bad alumilastic cement include:
- Reduced cooling performance
- Unusual noises from the cooling system
- Components becoming loose or detaching
- Increased energy consumption
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

The freezer was no longer freezing Eric D. • Arlington , WA • July 20, 2015
The new overload/relay kit corrected the problem.
The Panduit/zip-ties supplied in the replacement kit didn't fit where the illustration showed in the directions but smaller zip-ties connected together did fit and held the relay against the compressor just fine and the sealant had good squeeze-out.
